What You Can Expect

ProcedureWhat does the procedure entail?

A series of 8 treatments may be needed initially, and maintenance treatments as needed. The treatments are administered on a schedule ranging from 4-6 weeks apart. Factors affecting number of treatments include coarseness, color, density of hair, the area treated, and hormonal influences. Overall, our goal is 90% reduction. Light gray, white and/or blonde hair will not respond to this treatment. It is recommended that patients shave the area the day before. It is helpful for us to have some visible stubble to gauge treatment results. The areas being treated should be free of any topical lotions or deodorant prior to your appointment.

RecoveryWhat can I expect?

Patients may experience a feeling of warmth for 1 to 2 hours and mild redness that can last up to 24 hours. These symptoms can be relieved with Tylenol and/or ice packs. It is normal to see a little swelling around the hair follicles after treatments which fade within 24 hours.

CandidatesWho is a good candidate?

You may be a candidate for this procedure if:

You have unwanted hair that you would like to reduce or eliminate and you are willing to undergo several sessions. Laser hair removal works best on dark coarse hair and a fair complexation. Discontinue any skin sensitizing products, sun exposure, waxing, spray tans, and tanning beds. Commitment of 8 sessions within the advised timeframe for results.
