Fat Injections – Are they Useful?
Aging results in the loss and migration of fat in the face. This leads to hollowing under the eyes, flattening of the cheekbones, prominence of the nasal labial folds, down-turning of the corners of the mouth, and jowling, etc.
Fat injections can restore fullness back into the areas of the face that have lost volume in men and women. Fat is first harvested from an unwanted area on the patient’s body. It is filtered, concentrated, and then re-injected back into the depressed area. Fat injections are extremely safe, as well, because your own fat is being used to plump so there is no chance of an allergic reaction or rejection.
At Dr. Judith Gurley Plastic Surgery and Spa, we administer fat injections with care and precision. This is an outpatient procedure with a one to two-week recovery time, primarily due to the liposuction required to harvest the fat. You may have bruising on your face from the injections but that will subside in a week or two and can be covered with makeup.
