Women are not alone when it comes to having breasts. While men’s breasts are usually small, there are certain medical problems that can also cause men to have increased breast tissue. Breast reduction surgery can correct this problem.
Being overweight can cause increased breast tissue. Usually, this type of increase can be addressed with weight reduction. However, if you have a medical problem that is causing the increased breast tissue (gynecomastia), then surgery could be the answer.
Dr. Gurley specializes in the treatment for gynecomastia. If you are interested in male breast reduction, you need to call her office to make an appointment for a consultation.
During the consultation, Dr. Gurley will explain the procedure to you. She will determine whether or not you are a candidate for this surgery, and she will answer any questions you might have.
The procedure is usually done in a surgical suite. It will require general anesthesia, and you will usually spend one night in the hospital after the procedure. Upon discharge, you will be given instructions on the care of your surgical site. In addition, you will be given a follow-up appointment to see Dr. Gurley in her office so she can be certain you are progressing as you should.
The downtime for this procedure is minimal. There will be scarring, but over time it will become less and less visible.
