Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) – St. Louis
Over time, skin can lose its elasticity, leading to loose skin that hangs on the upper part of the arm. This lax skin can persist even with diet and exercise. This part of the arm can also be negatively impacted by weight gain or loss, resulting in a full upper arm or a saggy upper arm. Whatever the cause, persistent fullness or loose skin in the upper arm responds well to an arm lift, also known as Brachioplasty, a procedure that removes fat and tightens the skin.
What You Can Expect
ProcedureWhat does the procedure entail?
During the surgery, Dr. Gurley will design an incision that best addresses the problem. Usually, this incision extends from the armpit down to the elbow area. Sometimes the incision is shorter, depending on the individual. Liposuction is used in conjunction if necessary.
Alternatives Are there any alternatives?
Although diet and exercise can’t tighten skin, it can help with fat reduction. It’s important to exercise and eat healthy; we can help with the rest.
RecoveryWhat can I expect?
Patients are given a compression sleeve to wear in order to provide support for the surgical site. Normal activities can be resumed the next day. We prefer that you avoid strenuous exercise for 2-4 weeks after surgery.
CandidatesWho is a good candidate?
You may consider this procedure if:
You have loose skin or stretch marks on your arms that diet and exercise cannot improve.
You feel self-conscious about the “wings” of skin that extend from your elbow to your upper arm.
You have loose skin from weight loss that you would like removed, or you feel uncomfortable wearing short sleeves or tank tops.
CostWhat is the approximate cost for Brachioplasty?
The cost for brachioplasty (arm lift) surgery usually falls within this range, however you will receive an exact cost when you meet with Dr. Gurley.
