Breast Lift

Purpose - This procedure is recommended to lift, separate, rejuvenate and tighten the breasts.
Expected Outcomes - This procedure will rejuvenate the breasts, place the nipples in a more youthful position, create breasts that are more perky, and change the size and shape of the areola if desired.
How Procedure is Performed - The incisions are usually around the areola (pigmented area around nipple) and sometimes vertically from areola to the crease underneath the breast. Dr. Gurley utilizes a short scar technique which avoids an incision beneath the breast. Breast tissue may or may not be removed.
Alternatives - Sometimes breast augmentation will give the appearance of tighter more perky breasts, with or without a breast lift.
Recovery - This is outpatient surgery. There is no limitation on range of motion or heavy lifting. Patients are instructed not to engage in running, jogging or bouncing activities for 4-6 weeks after surgery.
Risks - There is a risk that sensation in the nipple could be decreased or lost, and that the contractility of the areola may be reduced. There is also a risk of breast asymmetry. It is important to be aware of the scars involved. Dr. Gurley will provide you with numerous photos of patients so that you can see outcomes.
